Will My Child Lose Data If the Device Is Locked?

What happens to your child’s photos, apps, and settings when a payment is missed

Updated over 6 months ago

If your child’s device was locked because of a missed payment, you might be wondering if anything important was lost. The good news is no—your child will not lose any data.

When a payment doesn’t go through, the device is locked to pause access. But this lock does not erase anything. All your child’s apps, photos, videos, messages, and settings stay exactly how they were before. It’s like putting the device on pause until the payment is complete.

Once your payment method is changed and goes through, the device will unlock automatically within 12 hours. Everything will be just like it was—nothing deleted, nothing changed. Your child can pick up right where they left off. Here is an article on how to successfully update your payment method.

We know it’s important to keep your child’s memories and settings safe. That’s why our system only locks the screen and not the data. If you need help updating your payment or have any questions, our support team is always here for you.
